Local historian Phil Goodstein has been giving walking tours of Denver neighborhoods, parks, and cemeteries for decades. Perhaps you’ve seen a bearded character leading a pack of fascinated people along the sidewalks of Capitol Hill or down Market street where the old brothels used to be. Phil really is a local treasure–his knowledge of Denver history is just incredible, and his walking tours are always full of history and anecdotes that you’ll not find elsewhere.
Phil’s walking tours tend to specialize in ghosts, scandals, and the entertainingly salacious aspects of the city history, but he has filled volumes on all aspects of Denver history. Goodstein has published numerous, thick and fascinating books on Denver history. Many of his walking tours are based on his classic books, The Seamy Side of Denver or The Ghosts of Denver: Capitol Hill, and Denver Streets.
More recent publications are Park Hill Promise, North Side Story: Denver’s Most Intriguing Neighborhood, and Lumber Baron Inn: Denver’s Most Mysterious Mansion, just to name a very few of his many, many books.
Browse all Phil Goodstein’s upcoming classes this summer. And be sure to mark your calender this Halloween for his ultimate Ghost Walk on Capitol Hill–it’s the boo-mb!
